Hope into Action tenant presented with prestigious award at the House of Lords!

Huge congratulations to Carl, one of our Hope into Action tenants, who was invited to the House of Lords this week by the Langley House Trust and Kainos Community to receive the Chairman’s award. Carl was one of the Kainos graduates from their Challenge to Change programme. 84% of their graduates did not reoffend in the first year following release from prison.

Carl has turned his life around. 13 months ago Carl was met at the prison gates by Hope into Action and mentors from his partner church. Since then, he has moved into a house, qualified as a fork lift truck driver and now pays his own rent. He has re-established relationships with his family and is conquering his addictions.

Carl met Baroness Kathleen Richardson (one of Langley’s patrons and guest speakers, Norman Lamb, Minister of State for the Department of Health, and Terry Waite CBE, a former hostage in Lebanon. Over 100 guests joined us from a variety of sectors including Criminal Justice, Care, Housing, Business and the Third Sector. The celebration events kicked off with a service of Thanksgiving at Methodist Central Hall Westminster, with the Rt Revd Bishop James Langstaff, newly appointed Bishop to Prisons.
